June 20, 2020 saw the first inception of ‘The Great Scholartrip Road Rally’. The Road Rally was the idea of four friends who were looking to put something fun for families to do during the quarantine that would be a group endeavour but still follow distancing guidelines. Since everyone planning the event was from Warsaw the group decided to make this car scavenger hunt throughout Warsaw. After a framework was developed the discussion to have the event benefit the scholarship came up.
The Jack Marsh Memorial Scholarship, newly named this year after our Treasurer who suddenly passed away, is given every year to a graduating high school student who is going into a business or service field of study. So all the stops and clues throughout the road rally had to do with local Warsaw Chamber businesses or service locations. 30 teams joined in the race which started at 10am on Saturday June 20th. Activities that needed to be completed, before getting the next piece of the puzzle, included word searches, pringle circle stack, light switch building, eating a large ice cream as fast as possible, team wood plank walk and so much more. Teams earned letters that spelled out the final location and had a chance to earn gift cards and baskets donated by Warsaw Chamber members. The teams that participated said they were looking forward to next year’s road rally. The Rally raised $800 towards the scholarship and a few more donations came in after the event.
