2024 Alan Goodenow Memorial Award for Outstanding Service goes to Deanna Wilcox
The Warsaw Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Deanna Wilcox as our 2024 recipient of the Alan Goodenow Memorial Award for Outstanding Service!
As the Chief of the Warsaw Volunteer Fire Department, Deanna consistently goes above and beyond in her dedication to the people of Warsaw. Her impact extends far beyond emergency response – she is a tireless volunteer and advocate for education, safety, and connection within our town.
You’ll often find Deanna at Warsaw Central School, where she teaches students essential lifesaving skills like CPR and First Aid. She also supports surrounding fire departments with fundraising efforts, organizes community events, and spends time engaging with residents at Connect 55.
Deanna plays an instrument role in many Chamber initiatives as well. She helps organize the annual Fire Truck Parade during Moonlight Magic and has served on multiple Chamber committees – ensuring our events are safe, well-organized, and welcoming to all.
We are honored to recognize Deanna’s outstanding service and leadership. Please join us in congratulating her and thanking her for all she does to make Warsaw a better place to live, work, and serve!
About the Alan Goodenow Memorial Award …
In a ceremony on March 31, 2005 the Citizen of the Year Award was renamed the Alan Goodenow Award for Outstanding Service to the Community to honor Mr. Goodenow for enriching the lives of so many Warsaw residents.
In addition to his job at Primerica Financial Services, Mr. Goodenow was a dedicated coach for Warsaw’s soccer and wrestling teams. He was an active member of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and was especially involved in organizing the annual Oktoberfest that was a favorite Chamber event for many years. He had served in the US Army in Germany and was in the National Guard from 1981-2000. He was a devoted husband; his widow, Charlotte Goodenow, accepted that award on his behalf and shared with those assembled that “Al was able to see great things in people. He was always able to see potential, even when you couldn’t.”
This award is given annually to a Warsaw area citizen who has shown outstanding commitment and service to the Warsaw community.
